The engine was based on Transport Tycoon, an older game which also has an equivalent open-source project, OpenTTD. RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 was originally written by Chris Sawyer in x86 assembly and is the sequel to RollerCoaster Tycoon. Scenarios require the player to complete a certain objective in a set time limit whilst sandbox allows the player to build a more flexible park with optionally no restrictions or finance. OpenRCT2 allows for both scenario and sandbox play. The player must try to make a profit and maintain a good park reputation whilst keeping the guests happy. The gameplay revolves around building and maintaining an amusement park containing attractions, shops and facilities. OpenRCT2 is an open-source re-implementation of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 (RCT2). (warning: do not download cool edit from "free sources", the download may just give you malware). I know that "cool edit" is a good simple audio editing program, but i can't find it legit anywhere on the internet. I would really like to be able to add my own audio tracks to rides in a more straight forward or simpler way.Īlso since most ride music would be small "loops" or repeating clips of songs from audio files and mp3s, there should be a simple audio editing program incorporated into rct2 that allows you to create and edit audio, and create small audio loops from mp3s and other audio files to be placed into or associated with individual rides. The current method of adding custom music to rides, which i do not quite understand, requires placing audio files into rct2 sub folders (which is limited to two) and is very confusing to me. I think what would be even cooler would be a way to drag and drop, or upload multiple audio files directly from the ride menu, custom audio files, and add them to rides. This could maybe be a console feature? Speed up/slow down any ride's music, without the ride needing to break down in a specific way. A small adjustment to the speed can result in music with an entirely different feel. In addition to this, it would be cool if you the music dropdown menu not only showed merry go round music as an option, but also with a submenu that allows for a single merry go round tune to be repeated rather than shuffling through the whole 'playlist'.Ī control failure speeds up merry go round music, which is cool - I used that to my advantage here for example: A while back I played with speeding up/slowing down the other RCT music pieces using the x0.5/x1.25 and so fort options on youtube, and often I thought the effect was incredible. Similarly a coaster cannot play merry go round music. Right now, a merry go round can only play merry go round music, and for example no rock music. It would be great if all rides had the option to play all music.
